Advocacy Efforts

Updates

Look here for an update on our advocacy efforts at the local, state, and national levels!

Through nonpartisan political advocacy, the society will represent and support the best interests of Nebraska neurological care providers and neuroscientists as they strive to provide state-of-the-art neurologic care across the state.

Current Bills

The Nebraska Neurological Society endorsed a Dear Colleague letter in the US House of Representatives drawing attention to the looming ‘Medicare Cliff.  If allowed to proceed, this will lead to nearly a 10% cut to Medicare payments, compromising neurological care across the state and nation.  245 members of the House signed it, including Nebraska Representative Don Bacon.

The ‘Medicare Cliff’ will take effect on January 1, 2022 and is the result of Sequestration, PAYGO and the expiration of relief for the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, potentially leading to a substantial impact on access to Medicare patient care.
