Advocacy Efforts

Through nonpartisan political advocacy, the society will represent and support the best interests of Nebraska neurological care providers and neuroscientists as they strive to provide state-of-the-art neurologic care across the state.

Dr. Geetanjali Rathore of Children’s Nebraska will be taking over as the NNS Advocacy Chairperson and will be the new contact person for any neurology advocacy questions.

In February 2024, Dr. Laura Danielson and Dr. Isha Snehal attended AAN Neurology on the Hill.  Issues addressed included the nearly 3.4-percent cut to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor, burdensome step therapy protocols in employer-sponsored health plans, and funding for NINDS and the BRAIN Initiative.

In October 2023, Dr. Laura Danielson met with Representative Bacon’s office to discuss H.R. 2639 Electrodiagnostic Medicine Patient Protection and Fraud Elimination in her role as the Nebraska State Liaison for the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM).

In February 2023, Dr. Laura Danielson of CHI, Dr. Geetanjali Rathore of Children’s Nebraska, and Dr. Peter Soh of UNMC were the Nebraska representatives for the AAN Neurology on the Hill in Washington D.C.
